At GBCA Head Start, we encourage and support the love of reading in families. This year, at our “Steps to Reading” workshop, librarians from the local public library came to each of our Jersey City sites so parents could familiarize themselves with their neighborhood librarian. During the event, Head Start parents were taught sign language and signed themselves and their children up for library cards. The library also donated a multilingual children’s book to each parent so they could read it with their family in the language they prefer. Thank you to @JClibraryNJ for this wonderful collaboration that helped to strengthen family bonds and encourage the love of reading in families every day.
