After advancing RMA through two procedural hurdles, the Senate will adjourn and come back into session

Per NJ DSC LGBTQ Caucus--Respect for Marriage Act (RMA) Bill Update:After advancing RMA through two procedural hurdles, the Senate will adjourn and come back into session on Monday, 11/28. Leader Schumer announced that RMA will be back up for consideration at 5:30 pm on 11/28 and will vote on Senator Baldwin's substitute amendment that addresses religious freedom concerns. That is the only amendment we expect to be considered and will replace the original bill text. The Senate will vote on final passage within a day or two of adopting the substitute amendment. The exact timeline of final passage is subject to continued negotiation, but we can assume that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, the Respect for Marriage Act will be headed back to the House for a concurrence vote by the beginning of December.

It is critical to keep the pressure on all 100 members of the Senate over the next week! We know our opponents will be out in full force attempting to pressure our yes votes to change their minds and vote no, and we can’t let that happen. All 100 senators need to hear from supporters via calls, emails, and supportive social media posts
