At our Maywood Campus, Ms. Roe Licata and Ms. Danielle Trancucci have implemented a reading buddies group with their two classrooms. Each week, 3rd/4th graders are paired with a kindergarten/1st grader, spending 15 minutes reading together plus 15 minutes engaging in a structured activity. This relationship gives them the opportunity to hear and practice oral reading as well as strengthen their social skills with peers outside of their classroom. Our third and fourth graders expressed their excitement with the program and how they now get to be one of the "big kids."
