Maywood Campus has adopted a cow!

Ms. Kristen Kajiwara's class at our Maywood Campus has recently adopted a cow named Willow. The Adopt a Cow program is sponsored by Discover Dairy and the Foundation for Dairy Excellence. Students virtually become a part of a local farm (ours is in Pennsylvania) and watch their calf grow over the course of the school year. Students will take part in virtual farm tours, correspondence with the farmers, and will have a video-chat with their cow in May.  Our calf is one-month old, a black and white Holstein from Walmoore Holstein Farm. Along with this program, the students will continue our current science unit on classifying animals and animal life cycles as we learn more about Willow and other animals on the farm. Lesson resources in a variety of academic subjects that correspond to our NJ Student Learning Standards are provided on the Discover Dairy website. The students and staff are very excited to see more of Willow over the next 7 months.
