Discussing Ways to Work Together to Support Small Businesses, Combat Hate, Fight Crime. Hosted by the Korean American Association of New Jersey.

PALISADES PARK, NJ — On Thursday, May 4, 2023, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5), an Associate Member of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), joined a roundtable hosted by the Korean American Association of New Jersey (KAANJ) with community and business leaders from the Korean American community in North Jersey. The group discussed combating the Congestion Tax and hate against the Asian American and Pacific Islander community (AAPI), as well as work to support small businesses, lower taxes, keep communities safe, and help make life more affordable.

“The Korean American community represents what makes our state and country great — incredible local leaders, small business owners, and residents who all work day-in-and-day-out to make North Jersey an even better place to live, raise our families, and do business,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer, an Associate Member of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC). “That’s why I’m working so hard in Washington, here at home in Jersey, with both Democrats and Republicans, and in the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, to support North Jersey’s great Korean American community — the families, businesses, nonprofits, and associations like KAANJ who I am honored to work with everyday.”

“I completely agree with the Congressman and his relentless pursuit to better New Jersey and its constituents. In regards to Asian hate, we need to constantly instill in the youth and their young minds that diversity is natural and very American. We have to constantly work toward a long term goal to be inclusive and never allow discrimination starting from the youth. We need to act preventively,” said KAANJ President Chang Lee. “And I wanted to also thank Congressman Josh Gottheimer for his relentless work to prevent the congestion price act from being enacted. This expensive hike should not be burdened on to New Jerseyans who have to go to NYC.”

Gottheimer was joined by KAANJ President Mr. Chang Lee, Vice President Mr. Sung Baik, President of the Korean American Senior Citizens Association of New Jersey Ms. Anne Young Ja Cha, VP of New Jersey Korean American Realtors Association Ms. Michelle Han, Asian Women’s Christian Association, Communications & Youth Program Director, Mr. Sam Oh.
