Wednesday marked the debut of Russell Wilson and Malik Nabers practicing together live for the first time. Although it wasn’t their first pass exchange, it was a significant moment in training camp for the New York Giants.
Nabers, who recently ranked No. 67 in the NFL Top 100 Players of 2025, had missed spring practices due to a toe issue. However, he was ready for training camp and eager to make an impact.
“I got a good few throws from Russ, got a few throws from [Jaxson] Dart, so it was good seeing those guys out there competing,” Nabers said post-practice. “It’s the first day at camp, so everybody’s jittery to get out here. It was a good day.”
Nabers, drafted sixth overall last year, made history by setting the franchise’s single-season reception record as a rookie while exceeding 1,200 receiving yards. He achieved these milestones with four different quarterbacks throwing his way.
Wilson is now set as Nabers’ quarterback moving forward. “He’s a great leader,” Nabers commented about Wilson. “He’s one of those quarterbacks that gets everybody going.”
During practice focused on red-zone plays, Nabers caught two touchdowns from Wilson late in the session. Their lockers are adjacent at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center—Wilson occupies the same spot he used during Super Bowl XLVIII preparations.
“Malik and I have a great relationship,” Wilson stated. “He has the locker right next to me actually…I just love how he works.”
Nabers’ efforts extend beyond physical performance; his presence is felt in meetings too. “He’s not shy and he’s great in meetings,” Wilson added.
Reflecting on his admiration for Wilson since childhood when he watched him win Super Bowls with Seattle Seahawks, Nabers expressed gratitude for having such mentorship close by: “To have that on side of me in my locker room is just an extra mentor…I’m kind of taking that challenge up.”
