On Saturday, March 29, former Rutherford High School standout Alex Gomez’s current college team, the Old Dominion Monarchs, won 7-6 in their NCAA Division I baseball game against the Appalachian State Mountaineers.

The game took place at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium. This was their third matchup against the Mountaineers this season.

The Monarchs’ next game is scheduled for Tuesday, April 1 at 6 p.m. at Davenport Field at Disharoon Park against Virginia Cavaliers.
