Holy Name announced on April 7 the appointment of Andrea Hubschmann, MD, MBA, FACOG, as Chair of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department and Associate Program Director of the OB/GYN Residency Program. The residency program will welcome its first class in June.
The appointment is significant because Dr. Hubschmann brings more than 15 years of experience in obstetric and gynecologic care, with a focus on quality, safety leadership, and education. Her leadership is expected to impact both patient care and medical training at Holy Name.
“Obstetrics and gynecology touch every stage of a woman’s life, and I never want that care to feel rushed, impersonal, or transactional,” said Dr. Hubschmann. “My goal is to build a department where patients feel genuinely seen and heard, where care is tailored to each person’s individual goals, and where safety and excellence are never compromised. That means investing in our people, our processes, and our programs so that every patient receives the very best we have to offer, and so that Holy Name becomes a regional destination for women’s health for generations to come.”
Dr. Hubschmann has developed interdisciplinary programs covering prenatal care through menopause wellness during her career. She holds an MBA from Johns Hopkins Carey School of Business with concentrations in Healthcare Innovation & Technology as well as Private and Public Sector Leadership. Her background includes serving as Chair of OB/GYN at Summit Health in New Providence with oversight over more than 40 providers across multiple offices.
She has also been recognized with awards such as the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ Mentor of the Year award for 2024.
“We look forward to Dr. Hubschmann serving as department chair and are confident that her priorities will drive the OB/GYN department’s continued success,” said Mike Maron, President & CEO at Holy Name Medical Center Inc. “Her focus on enhancing patient safety and care quality, improving operational efficiency, strengthening community engagement, and fostering collaboration across the medical center positions the department for meaningful growth.”
Dr. Hubschmann earned her Doctor of Medicine from Jefferson Medical College before completing her residency at New York Presbyterian – Weill Cornell Medical Center.
