Wide receiver Bryce Ford-Wheaton of the New York Giants sustained a torn Achilles during Sunday’s training camp session at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. The injury was confirmed by head coach Brian Daboll during a press conference on Monday morning.
This marks the second significant injury for Ford-Wheaton in three seasons. In 2023, he tore his ACL during the final preseason game while he was an undrafted rookie from West Virginia. After extensive rehabilitation, Ford-Wheaton returned to make the Giants’ 53-man roster last season.
Ford-Wheaton played in 14 games and participated in 286 special teams snaps last year, leading all offensive players and ranking third overall on the team in that category. One notable moment came in Week 5 against Seattle when Isaiah Simmons blocked a field goal attempt by Jason Myers. Ford-Wheaton picked up the ball and ran it back 60 yards for a touchdown, marking his first touch of the ball in his NFL career.
Coach Daboll acknowledged Ford-Wheaton’s contributions and confirmed the severity of his latest injury.
