It was an ideal day for the New York Giants as they began their training camp with temperatures in the 80s and clear skies. Head Coach Brian Daboll and General Manager Joe Schoen addressed the media before practice, announcing that only Andrew Thomas and Eric Gray would begin on the physically unable to perform list. Schoen expressed confidence that Thomas would be ready for the regular season start.
The camp commenced with shorter sessions, helmets only, and red zone work to prevent injuries. Russell Wilson made a strong start by connecting with Wan’Dale Robinson for a touchdown on his first pass during 7-on-7 drills. Wilson later threw two more touchdowns to Malik Nabers during team exercises.
Jameis Winston also showed precision by delivering a touchdown pass to Greg Dulcich over the middle. He followed up with another scoring throw to Lil’Jordan Humphrey. Rookie Cam Skattebo impressed as a receiver, converting several flat passes into gains, including one touchdown.
The Giants’ offense utilized play action and misdirection to create opportunities in the red zone. On defense, Nic Jones stood out by intercepting a pass for a touchdown after reading a quick stop route near the goal line. Paulson Adebo disrupted a play intended for Darius Slayton after Wilson fumbled the snap momentarily.
Deonte Banks performed well in coverage, preventing two completions, including one end-zone fade to Nabers. Brian Burns contributed defensively with a batted pass and pressure on Wilson that might have resulted in a sack. Tomon Fox, Trace Ford, Elijah Garcia, and Jordon Riley also applied defensive pressure throughout practice.
