The New York Giants continued their training camp Friday morning, nearing the end of a demanding stretch with six practices in seven days. The team is preparing for its first preseason game, scheduled for next Saturday in Buffalo.

During practice No. 8, quarterback Russell Wilson and wide receiver Malik Nabers stood out by connecting on two touchdown passes. This followed a notable 50-yard play between the pair during the previous day’s session. Wilson also scored a rushing touchdown, adding to his career total of 31.

Coach Brian Daboll addressed the focus on quarterback runs this week: “I think we have athletic quarterbacks,” Daboll said. “Some of it, again, we play athletic quarterbacks as well so you’re trying to do what’s best for the team, trying to get yourself ready. We’re not focused on any opponents right now, but we’ve done a lot of offseason projects and work, so we’ve got to make sure that both sides are ready for those.”

Daboll also commented on Wilson’s mobility entering his 14th NFL season: “I think that’ll all work itself out once we get into game planning and deciding what we can do but he’s plenty athletic, plenty fast enough,” Daboll said. “You’ve seen him on a couple scrambles, not necessarily designed runs but he’s out of the pocket and makes a guy miss. He’s been good on-the-run throwing. He’s been good on-the-run running, that’s part of his game.”

Wilson threw another touchdown pass to Wan’Dale Robinson that was ruled incomplete by officials due to an out-of-bounds call; however, the offense disagreed with the decision.

Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart contributed with a red-zone touchdown pass to Lil’Jordan Humphrey during a free play.

On defense, cornerback Dee Williams led with two interceptions and several forced incompletions. Williams joined the Giants last December after being claimed off waivers from Seattle, where he played 12 games as an undrafted rookie from Tennessee.

Safety Tyler Nubin intercepted a pass in the end zone at the conclusion of a two-minute drill. Safety Dane Belton added another interception and returned it upfield for what would have been a pick-six.

Other notable plays included Tre Hawkins III breaking up a pass at the goal line and tight end Daniel Bellinger preventing an interception by swatting away a pass intended for cornerback Paulson Adebo.

Rookie outside linebacker Abdul Carter pressured Wilson multiple times during practice. Outside linebacker Brian Burns and defensive lineman Chauncey Golston each recorded would-be sacks.

The Giants will hold additional open practices on August 2nd, August 4th, and August 13th (joint practice with the Jets).
