The New York Giants conducted their second practice session on Thursday, extending the duration to one hour and 45 minutes. The team practiced in helmets, jerseys, and shorts under sunny skies with temperatures reaching the low 90s. All activities took place in the high red zone.
The practice commenced with one-on-one drills featuring wide receivers against defensive backs, running backs against linebackers, and tight ends against safeties. Malik Nabers made a notable catch from Russell Wilson down the left sideline for a score. Wilson also connected with Theo Johnson and Darius Slayton for touchdowns.
Jaxson Dart found Montrell Washington, Zack Pascal, and Bryce Ford-Wheaton for touchdowns during the one-on-one sessions. Thomas Fidone II impressed with a one-handed leaping catch from Dart for a score, while Da’Quan Felton caught a ball from Dart in the corner of the end zone.
Jameis Winston threw two touchdown passes to Tyrone Tracy and also connected with Devin Singletary and Turbo Miller for scores. Tommy DeVito linked up with Miller and Cam Skattebo for touchdowns.
Defensive players Tyler Nubin, Deonte Banks, O’Donnell Fortune, Micah McFadden, Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, Ty Summers, and Bobby Okereke contributed by knocking passes away.
Dart delivered one of the standout touchdowns of the day by connecting with Jalin Hyatt on a back shoulder fade near the sideline despite tight coverage from Tre Hawkins. Hawkins later intercepted a pass on the same sideline.
Russell Wilson had an exchange with Dru Phillips; first completing a touchdown pass to Wan’Dale Robinson over Phillips’ head followed by an interception by Phillips on an out route intended for Robinson.
During team drills, two tight ends scored over-the-middle passes. Wilson hit Daniel Bellinger on a short crossing route while Winston found Greg Dulcich in crowded coverage. Winston later connected again with Dulcich after evading pressure from Abdul Carter.
Defensively Elijah Garcia and Kayvon Thibodeaux penetrated into what would have been sacks territory while Flannigan-Fowles and Summers disrupted potential tackles-for-loss plays in run defense scenarios.
Deonte Banks continued his strong performance maintaining close coverage outside without allowing much space to receivers. Nic Jones added another highlight after yesterday’s pick-six contributing both through pass break-up efforts alongside executing successful slot blitz resulting sack achievement today as well
