Giants.com is in the midst of a countdown to the start of the 2025 Giants Training Camp, posing 25 questions over 25 days. One key topic under discussion is the play-calling duties for the upcoming season.
Head Coach Brian Daboll has been vocal about this issue. During the Annual League Meeting on April 1, he mentioned that a final decision regarding offensive play-calling would be made during preseason games. Daboll previously took over play-calling last season, but it’s uncertain if Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator Mike Kafka will assume this role.
“Look, I have confidence in our staff,” Daboll stated. “I have confidence in Mike. I have confidence in the offensive guys. Again, what changes will be made, I’m going to go through the offseason and OTAs.”
Daboll hinted that both he and Kafka would handle microphones at times during practices leading up to preseason games.
The Giants are set to report for training camp on Tuesday and will commence their first practice on Wednesday. Their preseason opener is scheduled for August 9 in Buffalo.
In May’s rookie minicamp, Kafka was seen with a walkie-talkie during practice. When asked about it later, Kafka said, “I would say right now, whatever Dabs needs me to do, that is what I’m going to do.”
This question is one of several posed by Giants.com as part of their countdown series leading up to training camp.
